November flew away in a jiff and it’s already December! I could not believe only 13 days are left for my wedding. I am feeling scared and excited at the same time! I am sure all brides-to-be have these mixed kind of feelings! My honeymoon destination will be Andaman & Nicobar (blame me for not having a passport!) and it is for sure that I would spend a lot of time on beaches. Though my skin rarely gets tanned but there is saying “prevention is better than cure”. Few days back, I did a review on Puro Body & Soul Ubtan that is great for oily skin and to get bright and even skin. Puro Body & Soul Cooling Gel comes in a clear plastic tub with a silver screw top lid. The lid is quite fragile! The tub accidently falls off of my hands and the lid got cracked. I had to transfer the whole gel in another packaging. All the information is printed over it along with ingredients. There is also an inner lid that prevents the gel from leakage or spillage.

The cooling gel is light pink in color and looks very soothing to the eyes. As soon as you open the tub, you are greeted with the refreshing scent of various essential oils. The scent is divine and instantly makes me feel refreshed. 

I particularly use this cooling gel after a long day of shopping. My skin gets a bit dry and dull due to long hours of sun and pollution exposure. After getting back home, I firstly wash my face with a face wash and take a small amount of cooling gel and rub it on my skin. I apply it on my face, neck and hands. The gel feels extremely cool and instantly makes my skin feel refreshed. It gets absorbed quickly and does not leave greasy or sticky feeling behind. The scent is divine and makes me feel wonderful after a tiring day. I particularly use it as a night cream and I love how soft and moisturized my skin feels. It makes my skin glow the other day and I can’t wait to use it on my vacations!

Overall Thoughts:

Puro Body & Soul Cooling Gel is definitely one of the BEST after sun gels! It is natural and has divine scent. It moisturizes my skin well and instantly makes me feel refreshed. It gives a lovely glow to the skin with regular usage. I would highly recommend it to everyone! It is a must have if you travel a lot!

• If you have very dry skin, slather a layer on your face and let it absorb.

• Use a spatula to take out the gel from tub for hygienic purpose.

• You can use it as night cream if you have oily skin.

The Nature’s Co. Mixed Berry Body Lotion comes in a rectangular shaped sturdy semi opaque plastic bottle with a green flip top lid. The packaging is pretty unpractical as it gets leaked whenever I carry it in my bag while traveling. So whenever I need to travel, I pour it in a travel size bottle and I am ready to go!

The body lotion is pink-ish white in color with a lovely, yummy scent of “mixed berries”. I am totally in love with this scent. It is neither very mild nor very strong. It is just perfect for me!

The texture of the body lotion is soft and smooth with a perfect consistency. It is neither very runny nor very thick. It applies effortlessly onto my skin and gets absorbed almost instantly. The lovely scent makes the application all the more wonderful. Body lotion is a must have for me in winters and I never forget to carry it with me in shower. It is incredibly moisturizing and melts into the skin within seconds. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturized. The scent lingers with me mildly for a good few hours. As the winter season has already arrived, my body skin is prone to dryness and I do feel the need to apply this body lotion at the end of the day. It is a light yet moisturizing body lotion but if you have extremely dry skin then you might need to reapply it after every few hours. After applying the lotion, I do not feel the need to wash any remaining product from my hands. It contains glycerin, Vitamin E and olive oil that keep skin soft, smooth and hydrated.

PROS:

• Good formula!

• Feels light on the skin.

• Refreshing and yummy fruity scent.

• Makes my skin soft, smooth and nourished.

• Does not leave greasy residue behind.

• The scent lingers for quite a few hours.

• Contains all natural and good ingredients.

• Cruelty free.

CONS:

• Might not be enough moisturizing for dry skinned beauties!

• Packaging is not travel friendly.

• Pricey!

Overall The Nature’s Co. Mixed Berry Body Lotion is one of the loveliest scented body lotion I have tried lately. It not only smells amazing but also keeps my skin soft, smooth and hydrated. It does not leave any greasy residue behind and feels good on the skin. If you have oily, normal or dry skin then I would happily recommend it to you! It makes me feel refreshed in the morning!

Lakme Kajal Review

I believe I am the last person on earth to try Lakme Kajal. I had been so obsessed with my Maybelline Colossal Kajal that I literally did not feel the need to try another kajal. Lakme Kajal was a part of my makeup gifts that I got in my shagun from my in-laws. Honestly you get lots of pampering and gifts when you get engaged *laughs*. As soon as I swatched it on my hands, I was pretty impressed by its rich pigmentation. Lakme kajal is priced at 55 INR and you can buy online HERE.

I still remember, as a kid I used to sharpen my mom’s Lakme Kajal. It used to come as a grey, chubby pencil. Lakme Kajal has been popular since many decades. This version is a glossy, black, chubby pencil with a clear lid. 

The formula of the kajal is soft and smooth and glides easily on my waterline. I absolutely love the pigmentation of the kajal. I need only 2 swipes to get rich and dark color. It instantly brightens up my eyes and gives it a nice depth. Considering the price, I do not expect much from this kajal. It stays only few hours on my waterline and tends to smudge. To prevent it from smudging, I apply a powder eye shadow or loose powder under my lower lash lines. The kajal gets accumulated at the inner corners that I absolutely hate. I do not have much watery eyes but I believe it will smudge and accumulate within an hour if you have very watery eyes. I use it only when I need to step out the house for a short time. It definitely needs retouching throughout the day!

PROS:

• Travel friendly packaging. The cap does not tend to lose. 

• Superb formula. It glides like a dream!

• Rich pigmentation.

• Makes eyes look deep and beautiful.

• Inexpensive!

CONS:

• Smudges easily.

• The kajal accumulates at the inner corners of eyes.

• Needs reapplication!

• Sharpening leads to lots of wastage of product. 

Overall Thoughts:

Lakme Kajal is an average kajal with great pigmentation. I totally loved the formula and pigmentation but the staying power is low. It would have been a perfect kajal if it did not smudge much!

• Apply an eye shadow below your lower lash line to prevent kajal from smudging.

• Though I do not use this trick but I read somewhere that you can apply black powder eye shadow over your kajal to prevent it from smudging.

Vivant Skincare is a US based brand that is founded by co developer of Retin-A. I have got lots of emails from my readers regarding an eye cream for under eye circles and puffiness so this product might be helpful to you! The major eye issue for me is dryness and minor dark circles.

The eye cream comes in a sturdy white plastic bottle with a clear pull off lid. There is a pump dispenser that dispenses the right amount of product. Before applying eye cream, make sure you have washed your skin with a cleanser. I simply take 2 pumps of eye cream and apply it gently with my ring finger around my eye area. You just need to PAT the eye cream! It gets absorbed immediately without feeling heavy or greasy. I use it twice a day and I can see a difference in just a week! My eye area skin feels moisturized and under eye circles have lightened a bit. If you have major dark circles then you need to use it for at least 2-3 months to get results. 

PROS:

• A little goes a long way. You just need a small amount each time!

• Gets absorbed immediately!

• Hydrates eye area.

• Reduces dark circles due to the presence of kojic acid and peptides.

• No irritations!

• Light fragrance!

• Pump packaging is very convenient especially while traveling. I am taking it with me on my HM!

Overall Thoughts:

I am pretty happy with Vivant Skincare Wink Eye Rejuvenation Cream. It keeps my eye area hydrated and helps in reducing dark circles. It is quite mild and I have not faced any irritation! I would happily recommend it to everyone who is looking for an eye cream that actually WORKS!

Fab Bag November 2015 Unboxing & Review

It’s that time of the month again when I review Fab Bag. The best thing I love about Fab Bag is their bags. Of course I Ioved their makeup products too. This month I was pretty excited about Fab Bag as you got to choose a full sized skin care product of your choice. I chose Votre Intensive Brightening Masque but was disappointed when I saw it was missing in my bag. The Fab Bag team is super awesome and they shipped my product the next day! This month Fab Bag is of shiny black material and feels smooth on holding. It has chevron pattern over it that does not make it look boring! Seasoul Body Massage Candle

I am a huge fan of candles and own lots of them. I have never come across body massage candle and was pretty excited to find it in the bag. It smells divine and I am pretty excited to use it after my marriage *laughs*. It is priced at 300 INR for 50ml. 

Lollipops Paris Matte Concealer

It is also a full sized product and priced at 800 INR. It is more than the price of the bag so you are definitely getting more than what you are paying off. I got the shade ‘Ginger’ that I feel is darker than my skin tone. I am yet to use and will review it in detail.

Ayorma Fairness & Cell Renew Night Cream

It is a sample sized product. It does not interest me much as I have never been fan of fairness products. Amy be I will use it for my blemishes!

Vana Vidhi Rice Scrub

I got this product in May 2015 Fab Bag. I wonder why they repeated it! It is also a sample sized product. This scrub is super smooth and makes my skin super soft and smooth especially in this cold weather. 

PROS:

• You get products worth more than what you pay for.

• 3 full sized products!

• The bag is great for traveling.

• Reasonably priced.

• A perfect gift for a girl! Mind you Christmas is coming!

CONS:

• I wish there was no fairness product in the bag! But let me tell you Ayorma products are “natural”!

Overall Thoughts:

I loved November 2015 Fab Bag! Though I won’t say it is the best Fab Bag among all but I loved they included 3 full sized products this time. If you love trying new products that are sometimes difficult to find in India then I would definitely recommend it to you!

Honestly speaking, I rarely use eyelash curler and have been using Faces Cosmetics Eyelash Curler since many years. Let me tell you it is still in good condition and does not pinch my eyelids. Divo Eyelash Curler comes in a white cardboard box packaging with all the information written over it. It is made of good stainless steel and feels sturdy. The handles of the curler are quite small and I find them difficult to hold them with my fingers. As soon as I opened the curler, the rubber pad falls off of the place! I literally need to press it hard to use the product. The head of the curler is quite small and it pinches my eyelids if I do not use it carefully. I do not even need a mirror whenever I used Faces Cosmetics Eyelash Curler. Though Divo Eyelash Curler curls my outer lashes nicely but it could not reach my inner lashes and was pinching my eyes badly if I tried to do so. It looks just like a cheap, local eyelash curler that I used to buy when I was in my college! 

PROS:

• Comes in a cardboard box packaging. This way you can protect your curler from dirt and dust!

• Gives nice curls to lashes without pressing the curler too hard.

• Reasonably priced.

CONS:

• Does not come with replacement pads.

• Pinches my eyelid due to short head.

• Does not curl inner eyelashes. You really need to be an expert to curl inner lashes without pinching with this curler.

• Difficult to hold.

Overall Thoughts:

I tried various ways to use Divo Eyelash Curler but each time I used it, it pinched my eyelids leaving me with painful eyes. The rubber pads are loose and fall off each time I use it. Though it curls outer lashes nicely but I find it difficult to curl inner lashes. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone!

• Before curling the lashes, make sure the rubber pads are in place.

• Even if you have this eyelash curler, always curl your lashes by looking into the mirror.

• Curl your lashes before applying mascara.

• Keep the eyelash curler back in the box after use.

• Wipe off the rubber pads after every use with a makeup remover.

Not only their products are natural and paraben free but they are very effective and give results with just few usage. I have oily, acne prone skin and I have always loved using mud masks. Puro Body & Soul Ubtan comprises of 2 products- Ubtan powder and Citrus Blast Ubtan Mixer. Ubtan is in powder form and looks just like fuller’s earth. It also contains bentonite clay that is highly absorbent clay. It absorbs excess sebum off the skin and tightens pores. Citrus Blast Ubtan Mixer is in liquid form and is used to make paste with ubtan powder. It has lovely and refreshing citrus scent. The citrus blast is a mix of lemon, aloe vera juice, vitamin E and other essential oils. If you have oily skin you would know how refreshing citrus products are! 

I simply mix adequate amount of ubtan mixer in the ubtan powder. Though it is recommended to apply thick paste but I like applying thin layer so I make sure to use more liquid to form thin paste. The scent instantly refreshes up my senses. Before applying mask, make sure you wash your face with a face wash. I then let it sit on my skin for at least 10 minutes. It is easy to rinse off the face pack (I apply thin layer) and does not leave residue behind. 

My skin feels oil free, clean, bright and rejuvenated. Though I am not sure if it helps in firming the skin but clay masks are known for their firming properties. I have acne prone skin and it definitely helps in controlling production of excess sebum. It also helps in removing tan from skin and gives a radiant look. I have oily skin and I do not feel the immediate need to moisturize my skin. Remember it contains essential oils and Vitamin E!

PROS:

• Must have for oily, acne prone skin!

• Natural!

• Contains no comedogenic ingredients!

• Makes skin clean, even and bright.

• Lovely citrus scent.

• Does not cause tingling or burning sensation.

• You get face pack and liquid mixer in one pack!

Overall Thoughts:

Puro Body & Soul Ubtan is a natural face pack for oily, acne prone skin. It controls excess sebum and keeps skin clear, bright and even. It also helps in removing tan and gives a healthy glow to the skin. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to people with oily, acne prone skin!

So Silk Shampoo Review

I got 20 sachets!

I have fine, silky hair with dry ends. Dove shampoo rarely suits me as my scalp is oily and it makes my hair limp the next day. Recently I came across a new brand Prem Henna that sells various hair products including hair color products. As I do not color my hair, I chose to try So Silk Shampoo* that is enriched with soya milk protein. These are available only in sachets and each is priced at Re 1. You can buy online HERE.

So Silk Shampoo comes in yellow sachet with all the information written at the back. Make sure you cut open the sachet before, as opening it in shower is very difficult. I literally wasted half an hour opening the sachet with wet hands #lol. The shampoo is pearly white in color with good consistency. It looks just like Tresemme Shampoos I had used. The smell is mild and pleasant. It would not bother even sensitive noses.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you would know I never use my shampoos directly on my hair. I dilute it and then pour it on my hair. The shampoo lathers well but the lather disappears pretty fast. Lathering gives me the feeling of proper cleansing so it kind of disappointed me. I used it without conditioner in the first use just to see the results of the shampoo alone. It cleanses off my hair and oily scalp well without leaving any residue behind. 

As I have dry ends, I feel conditioner is a must have for me. My mom has normal hair and she does not feel the need to use a conditioner after using this shampoo. I have fine, weak and brittle hair and I have not seen any major improvement in my hair using this shampoo. May be I need to use it for at least 2 months to get strong hair! As the weather got chilled, I am glad that it does not dry my scalp or causes dandruff. 

PROS:

• Comes in travel friendly sachets.

• The shampoo smells wonderful!

• Does not cause my scalp to itch. 

• Does not cause dandruff.

• Cleanses the hair well.

• Makes hair manageable!

• Inexpensive!

CONS:

• Makes my dry ends knotty. Using conditioner with this shampoo is a must!

• Does not add shine to my hair which I do expect from my shampoos.

• No list of ingredients!

Overall Thoughts:

So Silk Shampoo is a good shampoo if you have oily or normal hair. It cleanses hair effectively without leaving greasy residue behind. I have dry, weak hair and have not noticed any visible difference to my hair. May be I need to use it for regularly for few months to see the results! There are also many hair color products from the brand so if you color your hair you could check out their website!

I am a huge fan of jackets. They instantly make you look chic and feel comfortable. The weather is cold now and I have started adding layers to my outfits. I wore this biker jacket* from Yoins a lot last week during my pre wedding photo shoots. Okay let me tell you, I did not get myself clicked as being a rock chic girl but I wore it over my long dress (I obviously removed it during photo shoot #lol). Before starting reviewing the jacket let me tell you Yoins is a fashion online shopping website that provides free worldwide shipping over $40. It has huge variety of jackets and I have already added 5 jackets in my wish list! I am definitely going to grab them!

The biker jacket comes in 5 sizes- 2,4,6,8 and 10. I got the size 8 for myself! It was a perfect fit and gives an awesome rock chic look but with a softer side. It is made of 85% polyester and 15% polyurethane with smooth leather on the outer. It has asymmetric zip front which zips to one side rather than straight up in the middle of the jacket. There are functional pockets and zipped cuffs that add a touch of glam to the jacket. 

The best thing I like about this biker jacket is the pin buckle belt at the waist that makes it look fit and perfect. The jacket is very light yet warm and is perfect for fall season. I particularly wear this jacket with jeans and tights though it looks good with long black dress too. Since the leather is soft, it is not at all difficult to move your arms. The design of the jacket makes it a real biker jacket especially with textured design on the upper sleeves. The zippers are of great quality and unzips easily. The jacket keeps me warm in chilly weather or cool mornings and does not make me feel too hot throughout the day.
